he Studied at the School of drawing and painting in Rouen. The landscape of the genre. Published his drawings in the magazine "L'artist" (1836).

In 1839 on behalf of А. Н. Демидова he made a trip to Russia. Performed a significant number of drawings of Russian cities and their architectural landmarks — Petersburg, Kronstadt, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod. On the road "filmed" the views of Northern cities and ports; captured Lubeck, Hamburg, Kronborg castle in Elsinore. Subsequently, the drawings reproduced lithographically, with the participation of August Raffa (Auguste Raffet) involved the inclusion in the composition of the staffage figures.

Published the albums tone lithographs: "Excursion pittoresque et archéologique en execute Russe en 1839" (Paris, 1842, 100 листов), "Types of Blachernae village belonging to Prince Sergei Mikhailovich Golitsyn" (about 1841-1842).

In 1850 выполнил for Demidov drawings by Belgium and Italy. The author of the notes about Russia ("Letters sur l'empire Russe", Paris, no year). Member of-корреспондент of the Committee of historical monuments; published notes and articles about French antiquities in the journals of Rouen.

Exhibited in the Paris Salon (1833-1864, with breaks).
