Bogdan GRAHAM (David) Karlin

Painter, draftsman, architect

Probably the son of xylographs Г. Грейма. He studied at the Imperial Academy of arts (1847-1852): in class battle-painting at Б. П. Виллевальде. During the years of study was repeatedly awarded with medals: in 1849, for the painting "the separation of the recruit with his father (the Parting of a young soldier with his father)" — small silver, 1851 за painting "Soldiers in the Parking lot (Leib-гвардии Moscow regiment in camp)" — large silver. In 1852 he received the rank of artist of painting, in 1854 — the title neklassnogo (free) artist for architecture. In 1857 presented to the Council of the Imperial portraits was awarded the title of "appointed" in academics.

Lived in St. Petersburg. The author of genre and battle compositions, landscapes. In 1860-е was engaged in the reconstruction (extension) of the apartment houses in St. Petersburg: Ligovsky prospect, house Sapozhnikova — А. Н. Вейнера the Officer on the street, at Bolshaya Spasskaya street. As an architect he worked in Yalta and other regions of the Crimea (from 1870), in Kiev and Berdichev.

Exhibited in the halls of the Imperial Academy of arts (1849, 1851).

Work is represented in many Museum collections, among them — of the State Russian Museum, Military-исторический Museum of artillery, engineer and signal corps and others.
