Supervised Art-экспериментальными shops of the construction of the Palace of Soviets (1931-1941). The participant of the great Patriotic war (1941-1943). Winner of five Stalin (State) prize of the USSR (1946 — for the portrait И. Д. Черняховского; 1947 — for the monument М. Г. Ефремову; 1948 — for the portrait В. И. Чуйкова; 1949 — for portraits Т. Т. Хрюкина and Н. Ниязова, 1950 — for the monument "to the Soviet army Soldiers who fell in the struggle against fascism" in Berlin); prize. Jawaharlal Nehru (1968, with the portraits of Indian political leaders); Lenin prize (1970, for a monument "to Heroes of Stalingrad battle").

the author of the book "the Artist and the life" (M., 1963), of several articles on Soviet fine art.

Posthumous solo exhibition was held in Sofia, Bratislava, Moscow (all — 1975), Belgrade (1976), Bucharest (1978).

Work is represented in many Museum collections, among them — of the State Tretyakov gallery, the State Central Museum of contemporary history of Russia, State Russian Museum, Kyiv national Museum of Russian art, State Museum of arts of Kazakhstan named. А. Кастеева and others.
