From the family of a serf А. К. Голышева descended from the hereditary icon-painters, who in 1844 оставил iconography and founded the agricultural book trade.

In 1849 he moved to Moscow. Was in 2nd-й school of Drawing graph С. Г. Строганова (did not graduate). In 1850-80-е worked as an engraver and lithographer; collaborated with copperplate and lithographic workshops Glushkevich, Е. И. Лаврентьевой, Е. Ф. Ефимова, Э. Лилье. In 1858 вместе father opened his own lithographic workshop in Mstera. Produced popular prints of biblical scenes, views of monasteries, the leaves on the plots of Russian folk tales and works of Russian writers — А. С. Пушкина, Н. А. Некрасова, В. А. Кольцова and others.

In the early 1860-х with the support of the Secretary of the Vladimir provincial statistics Committee and editor of "Vladimir provincial Gazette" К. П. Тихомирова engaged in the study of folk life and art. Prepared and published and illustrated editions: "Bogoyavlenskaya Sloboda Mstera" (1865), "Serapionovy deserts" (1869), "the old Woodcut pictures" (1870), "Antiquities of the Epiphany Church of the XVII century in the village of Mstera" (1870), "Atlas of ancient drawings of gingerbread planks" (1874), "Monuments of ancient Russian woodcarving" (1877), "Monuments of wooden Church structures in the province of Vladimir" (1879), "an Album of Russian antiquities of the Vladimir province" (1881), "Monuments of Russian antiquity in Vladimir province" (1883), "original drawings, handwritten Trustees 1651, 1679 and 1686," (1885), "the resting Place of Prince Pozharsky" (1885). Advised Д. А. Ровинского on the facsimile reproduction of engravings of Russian masters XVII — XVIII centuries.

Published articles and notes in periodicals: "Vladimir provincial Gazette", "official Gazette", "old and new Russia", "Northern Herald", and other (under the pseudonyms "a Rural inhabitant," "Neighbor Mstera", "Viewer", "Reporter", "Peasant", "Mstera", "Eyewitness").

member of the Imperial Russian geographical society (since 1862), St-Петербургского the literacy Committee (1862), the Moscow archaeological society (1866), Moscow society of spiritual enlightenment (1870), the Imperial Russian archaeological society (1877; awarded the gold medal of the Society), Moscow society of history and Russian antiquities under the Moscow University, Kiev society of Nestor the chronicler in Kyiv University, honorary correspondent of the Imperial Public library, an honorary citizen of the city of Vyazniki.

Organizer and lecturer at the free drawing school in two-year College in Mstera (from 1862). The author of the memoirs.

In 2013 во Vladimir was held the exhibition "the Ethnographer, local historian, publisher..." devoted to the work of Golyshev (timed to 175-летию birthday).

Work is represented in several Museum collections, among them — smfa. А. С. Пушкина State Russian Museum, State Vladimir-Суздальский Museum-заповедник.
