Zheltov Yury was born in Moscow.

In 1955 he entered the 1st-ю Moscow city art school for children (MSDHS) on Prechistenka street, where he studied М. С. Перуцкого, А. И. Шугрина, student М. К. Соколова and А. М. Глускина, student К. Костанди and Ю. Бершадского, one of the founders of the society "KNIFE" (1922). In 1958 he graduated from MDHS, and in 1965-м — artistic-графический faculty of Moscow state pedagogical Institute n. a. Lenin. The same year he began to participate in exhibitions in Moscow. In 1975 был joined the Union of artists of the USSR.

Since the late 1950-х to mid 1960-х, painting Ю. Желтова was close to post-impressionism. The need for a different plastic language led him in the late 1960-х of years to a more lapidary style and design. Most of the works of this period are in foreign collections. In 1971-1973, the artist experiments in geometric abstraction, and in a few years begins to work exclusively in this style.

In the same year he held his first solo exhibition at Denise rené. Since then, for twenty years, he has been collaborating with the gallery, lives and works in Paris and Moscow.
