born in the family of the Greek Uniate priest FI Khrutsky.

Studied in Polotsk litseume at the Faculty of Arts free. Around 1827, after his graduation, he moved to St. Petersburg. Until 1829 he took private lessons in English painter John Doe. At the same time as "foreign" students attended IAH, worked under the supervision of G. Warnecke and M. Vorobyov. Copied the works from the Hermitage collection. Khrutsky is one of the largest Russian painters middle of the XIX century. His work as a whole formed in line with salon-academic areas. In the 1830's the central place it occupied the still life. At the request of customers Khrutsky repeated on several occasions and varied reasons for still lifes.

Since 1840 he worked mainly on church order, as a landscape painter and portraitist.
