Biographical information about the artist scarce.

Graduated from the Kiev Art School. Around 1913 went to France, where he studied sculpture at private studios in Paris. Around 1915 he returned to Russia, took up painting. In February 1920 has exhibited his work at the first Jewish art exhibition in the Hall of Culture League in Kiev.

In the same year he emigrated to France, took French citizenship. Was a friend of M. Kikoin, P. Flint, O. Zadkine and other artists of Montparnasse - came from Russia. In 1923 he participated in the exhibition of the "Beat", has exhibited his work in the salons of Paris.

After the Second World War, gained recognition and commercial success. Held several solo exhibitions in New York galleries "Karstayrs" (1950) and "Mason Frances" (1963), Gallery "Kaganovich" in Paris (1958).

He painted mostly landscapes of Paris, southern France, Corsica, in a manner reminiscent M. Utrillo, as well as abstract compositions with a barely perceptible start of the landscape.
