Go on Wineries
Today, CSR Winery Exhibition Transition: Moscow - Bilbao, uniting the work of Spanish artist Imy Montoya and Russian photographers Valerie and Natasha Cherkashin
From 14 to 26 April at the Center for Contemporary Art Winery opened exhibition entitled «Go: Moscow - Bilbao». The main actors of this exhibition - the artist from the Basque Country and the Russian Montoya There are a creative duo of photographers Valerie and Natasha Cherkashin.
Spain and Russia for many centuries, have been linked in many different areas - even the width of railway tracks in both countries the same. This exhibition project is not by chance called «Go»: it is a «transfer station» between the two underground systems, the two cities and two cultures. Artists descended to the depths of Moscow and Bilbao, to better know themselves and each other.
Valera and Natasha Cherkashin has long been a witness of important events of modern history - the adjustment, the Olympic movement, the emergence of a unified European currency. One of their favorite topics - a figure of the underground space, which in Photographs Tcherkashin appears as typical assembly takes the cultures of different countries. Valera and Natasha often organize joint exhibitions with the authors who share their interest. For example, in February - March 2008 in the Moscow Museum of Modern Art was opened exposition «Metro in art and art in the subway», prepared by Cherkashin, together with the Swedish art historian and painter Marianne Shtryum.
This time ally had become Tcherkashin There are Montoya, whose work is already well known to Metropolitan audiences. In autumn 2008, Imy solo exhibition was held at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art - in the same rooms where a few months earlier had shown the work Cherkashin. The source of inspiration for Imy Montoya has become a modern crowded city - with its vast spaces, mad rhythm and endless traffic. Painting Imy - relaxed and very sincere, creative in choosing materials and is very expressive in color. In all her pictures, there are people (although some of those without), and their mood is physically transferred to the audience.
Moscow metro - the most famous in the world «underground palaces», and the Bilbao subway - a young, built on the project the legendary Norman Foster. Photography, painting, united in one exhibition. The proximity of the Russian and Spanish artists, but also individual perceptions of their similar stories. All of this - are signs that in the modern world can be cosmopolitan without losing its identity.
