In the State Tretyakov gallery 29 July opens a major retrospective of Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky — to 200-летию birthday.

In the halls of the Tretyakov gallery on the Crimean Shaft will be assembled about 100 50 picturesque and graphic works by the master. Just as, in the words of Rockwell, it was created about 6000 works. At the monographic exhibition will showcase the very best examples of his work. Aivazovsky's talent is multifaceted – in addition to his famous seascapes, the exhibition visitors can get acquainted with examples of battle art, drawings, etc.

the Central place in the exposition will occupy such important works as "the Ninth wave" (1850) and "Wave" (1889; both — RM), "rainbow" (1873) and "Black sea" (1881; both — TG). The opening will be large-scale painting "the coast of the Caucasus" (1885, state Tretyakov gallery), has never participated in exhibitions.

Section of documents will reveal the theme of the philanthropic activities of Ivan Aivazovsky, made a huge contribution to the development of his native town Feodosiya and became its first honorary citizen. Complement the exposure telescopes, compasses, models of ships and a globe.
