the Exhibition for the first time in many years gives you the opportunity to get acquainted with the multifaceted talent of the architect and artist Nicholas Lancer and its rich artistic heritage. It includes more than 150 exhibits of pre-revolutionary and Soviet periods of his work — architectural projects, drawings, watercolors, letters, and interior. Such a large-scale exhibition project presented for the first time since the rehabilitation of the architect and again includes his work in the history of art.
In the work of the architect reflected the dominant styles of his era. Neoclassicism and neo-Russian style influenced the creative pursuits of the Lancer of the early XX century. These are the Glushkov House in Tsarskoe Selo (1907) and the interiors in the mansion of V. P. Kochubei in Tsarskoye Selo (1913-1914).
With the advent of a new era comes and the avant-garde in the oeuvre of Nikolai Lansere. Classic interpretations of the yield trends of constructivism and requirements limit functionality, as, for example, in a competition project for apartment houses Joint stock company "Arcos" in Moscow (1923-1924). And even under arrest in 1930-е years, working in Special Design-техническом office No. 12, Lancer creates unique projects. Nicholas Evgenievich Lanceray (1879-1942), Russian architect and artist, Professor Academy of Arts, member of the society "World of Art". Youngest son of E. A. Lansere and E. N. Benoit. Wife — Elena Kazimirovna Podtantsovka (1885-1974), children — Natalia Nikolaevna Lansere (1910-1998) and Alexei Nikolayevich Lanceray (1916-2004). Graduated from the Academy of arts (1904). Was arrested (1920 and 1931), and later convicted on charges of espionage in favor of France (1932). In conclusion, he worked in Special engineering-техническом Bureau No. 12 (1931-1935). Died on the shipment during the war. He was buried in Saratov prison cemetery. Rehabilitated posthumously (1957).
the exhibition presents works from the collection of the Museum of the history of St-Петербурга, one of the founders of which was Nikolay Lanceray, as well as from the private archive of a family of architects and private collections in Moscow.
