Museum of Decorative - Applied and Folk Art exhibition opens today "Science save art", dedicated to the 33 anniversary of the Department of Scientific Restoration VMDPNI .
museum was founded in 1981. Currently , the museum collection has 240 thousand exhibits. Important role in the preservation of the unique collection of the museum belongs to the department of scientific restoration , created in conjunction with the museum itself . Many restorers took part in the formation of the museum's collection , working in scientific expeditions in various regions of Russia . Some of the exhibits in the museum received in a ruined and not suitable to be exhibited condition. Only thanks to the hard work of specialists of scientific restoration , which seems invisible , today they can enjoy the museum visitors . Restoration - a creative process that gives new life to works of art and the role of the restorer , as the UNESCO International Code of Practice , " is to preserve the cultural values for the benefit of present and future generations ».
The exhibition presents the most striking objects , demonstrating mastery of the restorers of the Russian Museum of Decorative - applied and Folk Art .
Among iconic exhibits trellis "Salvation fishermen " ( Flanders , the end of XVII - beginning of XVIII century ) , the banner of " Kursk militia" (1853-1856) , theatrical costume FIShalyapin for the role of Boris Godunov ( Russian , late XIX - early XX century ) and others .
Restorers VMDPNI perform work in ceramics and glass, fabric and leather, wood and furniture , polychrome sculpture , lacquer miniature , graphics and book binding , bone and mother of pearl , artistic metal . Unique restoration work carried out on leather and painting on metal .
Restoration carried out by experts of varying complexity of the museum based on the methodologies developed by leading restoration centers - GRC them . Grabar , GosNIIR and workshops Hermitage. Working with complex artifacts and materials , restorers VMDPNI possessing high professionalism and years of experience to develop unique author's techniques .
