present exhibition project represents the first stage of professional activity "one of the founders of the Soviet reportage" Reminiscences: from the first publication in the journal Screen "" Working paper (1923) to the exhibition "The Soviet photography for 10 years" (March 1928).

Reminiscences came to Moscow in 1922, already owning some photographic skills which he managed to get in the Ukraine, in his hometown of Nikolaev, which existed before the Revolution, a network of photography studios and worked Photographic Society. In Moscow, Reminiscences took a job as a retoucher in the photo studio "Rembrandt", whose owner AF Winkler soon began to trust him and photographing customers (so Shaikhet met his future wife).

Moscow Shaikhet stopped in its family, maternal aunt, her husband, Dmitry Brazul- Breshkovsky journalist "working papers", and advised the young man start shooting picture stories.
