yesterday in the gallery at Solianke an exhibition of paintings by Roman Antonov «Not primitive».

One beautiful and sunny day was people.
And suddenly accidentally saw me and my pictures, and asked:
- This is for sending in this painting?
And I told him in reply:
- probably primitive or Naiv. Sam just did not know.
Man stood a little, looked at me and said:
- I know! It is difficult primitivism!
Went farther.

The idea is that people and things exist in different planes, but sometimes they are in the same plane, and begin to interact, influence each other. If you decide to answer the phone or open the door to a small key, then your life can change. And you can just think about the futility of human effort, watching the humming fly, flying around the lights.

My painting - it is a constant search for spiritual balance in a troubled world around us, look at that, in my opinion, it is possible only through the prism of irony or self.

Characters my paintings live in a world of objects and things, merging with the world. How to find an easy way out of the complex issue? Here it is, the smallest key that can open the big door in the big world. Here is a phone call which will connect you to a distant and unknown. Here is a little man escape from the impending storm. All this can be called difficult primitivism, but to me it is first and foremost look at the man and his domestic problems through the prism of ordinariness.

Roman Antonov was born May 9, 1975 in Carpet of the region. In 1996 graduated from Political Art School, Department of «design environment». In 1994-1997, the youth participated in regional exhibitions and has held several personal exhibitions. In 2000, graduated at the Department of Design of Moscow State Open University (MGOPU). Since 1998, participates in exhibitions in the Central House of Artists (before 2001 - in a joint exhibition with artists Union «NUR»). Roman Antonov works are in private collections in Russia, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, France, the United States, Canada and Japan. Lives and works in Moscow.

Exhibition «Not primitivism» Roman Antonov opened in the gallery at Solianke (Solyanka, 1/2, p. 2, entrance from the street. Zabelina) until 19 July 2009. Gallery Hours: 12:00 to 20:00 daily except Mondays.
