The Ukrainian returned a painting stolen in Netherlands

Recall that in December 2015, the Director of the westfries Museum ed Gerding (Ad Geerdink) stated that, to his knowledge, the stolen collection is in the hands of the representatives of the Ukrainian volunteer battalion "OUN". And in April of this year , the security Service of Ukraine announced the discovery of four stolen paintings from the collection. Now comes the process of the return of artworks in the Netherlands. Picture, voluntarily returned some Ukrainian collector, therefore, is the fifth discovered on the territory of Ukraine the picture of the 24 abducted. All in all, from the westfries Museum in the city of Hoorn in the night of 9 January 2005 was stolen 70 items of silver and 24 paintings of the XVII — XVIII centuries.

All this time the work was at his home. Two weeks ago, he asked the art critic for the assessment and examination work. Then-то expert and informed the collector that the painting belongs to the stolen 10 years ago in the Netherlands collection. After that, the owner immediately decided to return it. The picture is in very poor condition and requires restoration.
the Dutch Embassy in Kiev intends to conduct an urgent examination to confirm the authenticity of the work. The cost of work is estimated at Ouwater €30 000.
