Basner found not guilty
Case Elena Basner was rare in its dramatic intensity. Critic arrested in 2014, a few months later was placed under house arrest, and then under his own recognizance. For her release from jail people signed the petition. In support Basner expressed the Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky. 17 may 2016 Dzerzhinsky district court of St.-Петербурга came to the conclusion about the innocence of Elena Basner Veniaminovna of fraud (article 159 of the Russian criminal code part 4).
during the trial the prosecution asked for Basner 4 years in prison. According to the investigation, former expert of the auction house Bukowskis gave a false assessment of the authenticity of the painting Grigorieva "restaurant" and she participated in its sale to a collector for $250 000.
the Court agreed with defense arguments that Basner made a unintentional error.
