Dallas Museum of Art returned Turkey ancient Roman mosaic "Orpheus tames wild animals" (194 AD. Oe.). This rare artifact of representatives of the American Museum bought at auction in 1999 by private sponsors. But this year, the museum staff learned that the mosaic probably was taken from Turkey illegally. They notified the Turkish authorities and requested more information about the artifact. Evidence came from Ankara (includes photos) proved to be quite exhaustive.
found that mosaic of playing the lyre of Orpheus and wildlife, charmed its execution, originally graced the floor of the Roman houses near Edessa . The product of II century AD left the Turkey illegally. Dallas Museum exhibit voluntarily decided to return what the Turkish authorities were extremely happy. It seems that this is the beginning of a long and fruitful collaboration.
