German archaeologist Vinzenz Brinkmann (Vinzenz Brinkmann) conducted a computer reconstruction of the color of ancient Roman statue of Venus Lovatelli. This sculpture I c. n. e. once adorned the house of a wealthy resident of Pompeii. Unlike most ancient white marble statues on the sculpture of Venus preserved flakes. This allowed the archaeologist with the method of optical spectroscopy to investigate the chemical composition of the paint without damaging the surface of the statue. Thus obtaining color reconstruction is absolutely plausible, based on the results of the physical and chemical studies of the original paint material. Now we can look at Venus Lovatelli eyes of its creator, and make sure that the ancient masters were fans not only form, but also the colors.
