Art, presented in Moscow museums and galleries, is available at unusual times and in unusual circumstances. That would never have time to see the day now you can see at night. May 15, 2010, Moscow will become a one large art object. At nightfall, the center of nightlife moves from the clubs and bars in museums, art spaces and the main galleries of the city. On this night the doors of more than 100 art organizations will be open to visitors from 19.00 to 2.00:

• 60 museums;
• 35 exhibition halls;
• 42 galleries;
• 6 art centers;
• more than 20 outdoor programs.

History Museum night festivities to mark the International Museum Day on May 18, started in 2001 Paris and rapidly gained popularity in all major European capitals.

In Moscow, the first "Night at the Museum" was held by the Government of Moscow in 2007. Then it was attended by several city museums, to extend its work to 21 hours. The following year, in the alternative action "Doutrart" to museums joined more than 40 private galleries, foundations of culture, art sites, and the first private museum. The result - an absolute record, exceeding the success of many of monthly exhibitions: during the night in events attended by 450,000 people.

In 2009, the number of participants increased to 120 art organizations: federal, city and private museums and galleries. The geography of "Night at the Museum" covered the entire city - from museums in the center of Moscow to estate ensembles on its outskirts. Significantly expanded range of activities, which included both mass and chamber meetings at several dozen people, and the artistic, architectural and literary programs alternated with military-historical and natural sciences. Number of visitors of the third "Night at the Museum" has reached 600 thousand people.
