Spanish artist, José Solís Weight (José Massa Solís) took back 40 paintings, which in 1995 gave the city of Caceres. According to him, works that fourteen years ago, were estimated at a sum equivalent to 1.8 million euros, with December 2007 «laid a heap on the floor, in plastic bags».

After some time, Mayor Carmen Caceres Eras (Carmen Heras) announced that the City reached an agreement with the artist, but Massa Solis said that it's not true.

Painter told The Art Newspaper, the authorities asked him to post pictures from the series «Caceres» and «Extremadura» in different institutions, including the local house of culture, but it is not interested. Weight Solis said that such a decision would have threatened the integrity of the series. Under its original agreement with the city, all work should always be exhibited together. In December 2008, the paintings were returned to the author.

Carmen Eras told The Art Newspaper, that the works of mass Solis had to remove due to the fact that little room in the palace. She also added that «from a legal point of view, it [the artist - Ed. ] relationship with the mayor's office were exceptionable. Every month, it can be said to receive a salary for what the city has presented his paintings ».
