Auction No. 52 "In Nikitsky." Summary

Thursday, may 21, in the "House of antique books in Nikitsky" held the auction No. 52 "fiction. Rare books and Autographs. Publications about the works of writers and poets of XIX–XX centuries". The auction went at a good, brisk pace, over 400 lots traded two hours. The hall was attended by about two dozen spectators, while active buyers among them there were also a lot of @ & mdash; about seven or eight. As a result most lots were bought hall — 76 (46 % of all lots sold). Equally active, but a little less stubborn and lucky was the Internet-пользователи: they eventually went to 36 lots, but could be more — if not for hall. Phone buyers purchased 20 lots (traded for a much larger number of publications), and absentee rates bought lot 31 — mostly without a fight and at the lower estimate. The General result is @39. % of lots sold and revenue of 4.4 million rubles, which accounted for 40 % of the average total estimate. Good work resultat@

became the Most expensive item No. 325 — the very first lifetime edition of 1928 the plays of Isaac Babel "Sunset" autographed by the author. This play Sergei Eisenstein considered the "best drama skills pooterish play" himself Isaac Babel understood that the play is about the "noble" Odessa gangster Benya Crick has nothing to do with the revolution and "clashes horribly with the fact that now in the theater doing it." After his arrest on charges of "anti-Soviet conspiratorial terrorist activity" and the execution of the writer in 1939, all his books were withdrawn from libraries and written off in the trash. Again the works of Babel began to print only after the posthumous rehabilitation in 1954. The copy of the first edition of "Dusk", thus, is of great value and rarity. Spurred the interest of collectors and gift inscription by the hand of Babel in Peter Petrovich Suschinskogo (1892-1985) — publicist and musician, one of the leaders of the Eurasian movement among Russian émigrés in Paris. For the book joined the fight in the party room and phone player, the lot almost doubled in price and got a buyer in the hall for 300 thousand rubles (estimate: 160-180 thousand).

And another autograph played with a large excess of the estimate. It was lot # 56 — a collection of poems of Ivan Bunin "the fall", released in 1901, the Moscow publishing house "Scorpion". In the collection there is a presentation inscription by the author of the Odessa Literary-Артистическому Society, a member of which was Ivan Bunin. In the fight for the lot was entered by two players in the hall, raised the price from 90 to 250 thousand rubles@

A lot earlier on the top level of the estimate, for 220 rubles, went to the gym a library: 20-томник "Library of great writers" of the publishing house of Brockhaus and Efron 1901-1904, including the complete works of Pushkin (6 volumes), Shakespeare (5 volumes), Byron (3 volumes), Moliere (2 volumes) and Schiller (4 volumes).

Is, in fact, were the three most expensive lots of the auction. The remaining lots are mostly left at prices not exceeding a few tens of thousands rubles. For affordability, these trades can be considered a role model. There were media and a few thousand, for example. For one such book, 1912, modestly estimated at 1 000, turned curious bargain. After reading the title of leading "an Unprecedented case of the deceased, which were buried alive in the grave" one of the participants in the room with the words "Oh, my!" bet. But not here-то was: story-страшилку in the spirit of urban legends, as it turned out, there are two more phone party. When we got to 15 thousand rubles, the host noticed that the book is just about 15 pages. Apparently, the thought of a thousand rubles for the page are some wise players, and on and off. The terrifying tale of a merchant's daughter who rose from the dead, who will read-то who traded on telefonu@

of the interesting sales worth mentioning caring for 110 thousand rubles (estimate 38-40 thousand) rare books of poems by Maximilian Voloshin "a poem about terror", published in Berlin in 1923. Fought for it in the party room and phone player, the winner got the phone. The sudden surge of consumer interest has caused a few children's books from the series "Grishkina travel" with verses N. Krandievsky and drawings E. Kutzer, released by the Berlin publishing house "Yesterday" in 1923 (each of them is exhibited with an estimate of 4-4,2 thousand). If the first book about travelling to the game in Africa, went for 7 thousand rubles, for the remaining three, respectively narrating the adventures of a hero in Australia, Siberia and the North Pole, the telephone and face-to-face participant traded each time to 70-75 thousand rubles. Apparently-то seriously keen on this adventure cyclom@

and, finally, 120 thousand rubles, while the estimate 45-50 thousand, paid for the autograph of the artist Nikolay Kupreyanov on the cover of the book of Boris Pasternak's "Menagerie" of 1929. The call of the artist "cheer up, Jack!" Hendrickson addressed to Eugenia, who studied together with Kupreyanova in VHTI. We and our valued readers we wish!
