From a family of Georgian princes. Studied in MUZHVZ (there from 1875 to 1881) В. Г. Перова, А. К. Саврасова in the Imperial Academy of arts (1881-1888). In 1881 he was awarded small silver medal for a study from nature. In 1888 released with the title neklassnogo (free) artist. In 1886-1887 as an artist collaborated with the magazine "world illustration".

he Lived mostly in Moscow. He painted portraits, landscapes, genre scenes. Author paintings: "Autumn morning", "On the Oka river" (both — 1880-е), "Savvinskaya Sloboda", "Chumaky in the steppe", "the Portrait of salomé", "the Georgian peasant," "On the river Supsa (In Transcaucasia)", "mail station", "Forest NAP", "Quay in Yaroslavl" (all — 1890-е), "warm Winter day", "Thaw", "Night", "The shallows on the Volga" (all — 1900-е), "sun", "he", "Spring clouds", "early summer", "Suburb", "vintage" (all — 1910-е) and others.

From 1884 — participant of exhibitions (student's, MUZHVZ). Exhibited at exhibitions TPHV (1887, 1888, 1890), Moscow society of art lovers (1891, 1894), the society of South Russian artists (1892), of paintings of Moscow artists (1893, 1894, 1895), Moscow fellowship of artists (1895 to 1897, 1901-1913, 1916-1918), in the halls of the Imperial Academy of arts (1896), New society of artists (1910), art circle "Environment" (1918) and others. Participated in the world exhibition in Rome (1911).

he Taught drawing at 5-й gymnasium in Moscow.

Work is represented in several Museum collections, including the Nizhny Novgorod state art Museum.
