Studied at the Central Stroganov school of technical drawing (1895-1901), MUZHVZ (1901-1911) Н. А. Касаткина, А. Е. Архипова, К. А. Коровина and В. А. Серова. In 1903 and 1904 he was awarded small silver medals.

he Lived in Moscow. In 1917 — 1920-х worked in Central Asia, Siberia, the Urals. Created landscapes, historical and genre scenes. Author paintings: "the Two Empress", "Elizabethan theatre", "the Boondocks", "Autumn", "the Last chord" "Frost", "Blizzard", "view of the Dnieper", "At the grave Т. Г. Шевченко", "Taiga" (all — 1910-е), "Leo reads poetry to his friends" (1937), "Before the rain" (1939), "Evening on the don" (1955).

Worked in the field of applied graphics; created theatre programs, posters. Issued a commemorative program for the Bolshoi and Maly theatres in Moscow (1913-1914). Participated in illustrating the publications: "Moscow in its past and present" (M., 1909-1912), "the Legacy of Peter the Great".

From 1895 — participant of exhibitions (18-я students MUZHVZ). Exhibited at exhibitions of the Moscow society of art lovers (1904, 1906, 1910), "Free creativity" (1912), "Free art" (1913), "Petrograd society of artists" (1922) in Moscow and Petrograd; exhibition "Artists — fellow soldiers" in Moscow (1914). Member of mosskh — SSH; participant of exhibitions of Moscow Union of artists (1939, 1940, 1956).

he Taught drawing in Khamovniki 5-м the city College and Eugene technical school in Moscow.
