Draft Entropa: and laughter and controversy
Recently opened in Brussels on the draft lottery and Entropa has caused controversy among politicians
The idea was simple, but very good. At the initiative of the Czech Republic and in honor of its presidency of the European Union, the European Council has allocated half a million euro for the preparation of unusual art project called Entropa . Artists from 27 States, members of the association were to submit their own vision of his country, reinforced national stereotypes.
Recently, this idea was reflected in the large-scale installation that was installed on the building of the European Council in Brussels «Justus Lipsius». She appeared before seen diplomats and journalists on Monday and attracted many viewers laugh - images of which are fragments of the installation were very ironic. Stretches across the French strike poster, Germany, crossed the road, Italy turned into a soccer field with the players, the Kingdom of Belgium - in a box of chocolate candies, Sweden - in a cardboard packaging from IKEA, Romania - in the castle of Count Dracula, etc.
All of it would be good, but then it turned out that all the artists (with the exception of the representative of the Czech Republic) - phantoms! Their names and work with accompanying commentary idea, one person - Czech sculptor and provocateur David Cerny (David Černý) in collaboration with Christoph Quintero (Kristof Kintera) and a group of colleagues.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Alexandr Vondra (Alexander Vondra) admitted that «unpleasantly surprised» this fact, which, moreover, is not consistent with the terms of a contract with the artist. His dissatisfaction Entropa project also made by representatives of Bulgaria, which in general is not surprising, because this country is represented in the form of ... a toilet! Embassy of Bulgaria has even sent a few letters to the leadership of the EU, with the requirement to dismantle the installation, and now Alexander Vondra has officially apologized for this incorrect image.
The author of this hanky-panky David Černý has already asked for forgiveness from the Czech authorities for not having informed them about the real situation and put them into confusion. As an excuse for his misconduct, he called the shortage of time and money, but also said: «We knew that the truth will come out. But most wanted to know whether to laugh at a Europe ».
Entropa The future is not yet resolved. Today was the official opening of the installation, but it is likely that it will be removed.
