he Graduated from the philological faculty of the University of revel. He studied painting and drawing at К. Нилендера and А. Шлатера in revel (to 1889), Г. Эшке in Berlin (1889-1891), Г. Вея in Lausanne (1890). In 1896 получил the graduation.

Until 1902 жил in St. Petersburg, then — in Italy and Dresden. He painted landscapes, worked primarily as a watercolorist. The author works: "the Harbour in Bergen" (1893), "Autumn in Peterhof" (1897), "In the village of Wiles", "After the rain" (1897), "Ruins in revel", "Norwegian fjord" (1899), "the Courtyard in the revel" (1900), "Theatre Marcelia in Rome" (1906), "Noon" (1908), "House in old revel", "blackheads Choirs in the Church of St. Nicholas in revel" (1910), "Paestum. The Temple Of Neptune" (1911). Member of the Society for promoting the love of art and art device of mobile exhibitions, the Estonian literary society.

From 1893 — participated in exhibitions. Exhibited at the exhibitions of the Society of Russian watercolors (1893-1897, 1899, 1900-1904, 1908-1911), the Imperial Academy of arts (1897, 1898-1899), St-Петербургского society of artists (1897), the society of artists (1910) in St. Petersburg, the society of South Russian artists (1899) in Odessa. Participant of all-Russia industrial and agricultural exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod (1896). Memorial exhibition of the works took place in Tallinn (1911, 1926).

the Work presented in the Estonian art Museum in Tallinn, and in several regional museums — Saratov state art Museum im. А. Н. Радищева, Tula regional art Museum and others.
