Biographical information about the artist scarce.

graduated from Commercial College in St. Petersburg. In 1870-1879 he studied at the IAH. In 1874 he was awarded a small silver medal in 1877 - a large silver medal for landscape sketches. In 1879, for the painting "Memories" was awarded the title of class artist of the 3rd degree; in 1882 for his film "The family scene at the Garden was named the class artist of degree 1 and the right to a pensioner's trip abroad for one year.

In 1882-1884 - IAH pensioner in Germany, France and Italy (at the request of the artist's term pensioner content was extended for another two years), studied the genre painting of the "old masters" in museums.

After his return he lived in St. Petersburg. He worked as a genre painter. Participated in academic exhibitions (since 1881), shows TPHV (1880-1889, with interruptions), the All-Russia Art and Industry exhibition in Moscow (1882).

Bogdanova works are in many museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum im. VPSukachev, Chelyabinsk Region Picture Gallery, Nizhny Novgorod State Art museum and others.
