the Sculptor

he Studied at the Odessa drawing school. From 1903 жил in Paris and took French citizenship. He continued his education at the National school of fine arts (1910-е), in the sculpture Studio А. Мерсье.

he Lived in Paris. Worked in the field of easel and monumental sculpture; created heads, figures, genre scenes and animal sculptures from wood, terracotta, bronze, marble. In his works adhered to strict classical form, occasionally resorted to the stylizations in the spirit of Oriental plastics and grotesque.

Exhibited in the salons: Independent (since 1907), the Tuileries (1923), Autumn (from 1936). Participated in exhibitions of Russian art in London (1921), the International society of sculptors, painters and engravers in London (1921, 1922), "group Number" in the gallery "L Epoque" in Paris (1931). In 1928 four works ("My righteous one", "Men's head", "Head of a young girl" — 2 варианта) was presented in the Russian section of the exhibition "Contemporary French art" in Moscow.

he Taught in his own workshop, his students — М. Келлери, Э. Фрэнкель (Rothschild), Э. Бернкопф and others.

In 1931-1932 жил in new-Йорке, staged a number of solo exhibitions in his Studio. In June 1938 held a retrospective exhibition in the Paris gallery "Pierre". In 1945 and 1947 the sculptor's works were shown at exhibitions organized by the Committee "France — USSR" XIV arrondissement of Paris.

In 1949, he moved to kibbutz Givat-Бреннер in Israel. Created portraits of Israeli public figures — З. Шахар, Б. Кацнельсон, Т. Герцль and other; allegorical reliefs ("Symphony of life", 1959).

the Winner of the Dizengoff prize in sculpture and painting (1976). In 1976 100-летнему anniversary of the artist in Jerusalem was organized a retrospective exhibition; the album "Sculpture Ж. Лучанского" (Givat-Бреннер, 1976; Preface Е. Колб, Ж. Кассу).

Work is represented in many Museum collections Jerusalem, tel Aviv-Авива, Givat-Бреннера, Paris, Basel, and Bremen.
