he Studied at the Petrograd — Leningrad at the State free art workshops — VKhUTEMAS — Vhuteine (1919-1926) А. Р. Эберлинга, М. В. Добужинского, К. С. Петрова-Водкина, В. Е. Савинского.

he Lived in Petrograd — Leningrad. About 1925 moved closer to П. Н. Филоновым; in 1926-1930 член group П. Н. Филонова "MAI" ("masters of analytical art"). Participated in exhibitions MAI in the printing-House (1927) and the House of culture of Moscow-Нарвского district (1928/1929) in Leningrad; was one of the initiators of the schism MAI and in 1930 left the band.

In 1926 — 1930-х he worked primarily as a designer of exhibitions, in particular was involved in designing the Soviet pavilion at the world exhibition in Paris (1937) and pavilions VSHV (1939). Created a series of anti-religious and satirical drawings (1929-1931).

Since the late 1930-х until 1960-х worked as a theater artist. In 1935-1936 he was an assistant Э. Гарина in the film "Marriage" in Comedy Н. В. Гоголя. He designed the performances: "Dawn" Д. Г. Френкеля at the Opera Studio of the Leningrad Conservatory (1938, together with А. И. Константиновым); "Youth of Taras" В. А. Суходольского in Kyiv young spectator's Theatre (1938);, "Paul Greeks" Б. Войтехова and Л. С. Ленча in the Ukrainian drama theater in Donetsk (1939); "Women Niskavuori" Х. Вуолийоки (1940) and "Cornelius" Д. Пристли in the Leningrad Bolshoi drama theater; "Yegor Bulychev" А. М. Горького (1941), "the provincial Governor" brothers Tour Л. Р. Шейнина (1947), "Green street" А. А. Сурова (1949), "City at dawn" А. Н. Арбузова (1957) at the Leningrad theater. Lenin Komsomol; "Spring Love" К. А. Тренева (1950) in the Russian drama theatre in Vilnius; "Director" С. И. Алешина (1951), "High tide" Г. Е. Николаевой and С. А. Радзинского (1954) at the Leningrad theater of drama and Comedy; "Shadow" Е. Л. Шварца (1958), "Twelve chairs" novel by И. Ильфа and Е. Петрова (1960) in the Moscow theater of satire and others

In 1960-70-х created a series of easel lithographs, series of pencil drawings, as well as the designs of two stained glass Windows for a hotel in Norilsk.
