From a peasant family; younger sister of Bolshevik Nikolai Krylenko, known under the party nickname "Abram", later — Chairman of the Revolutionary Tribunal (1918), the Prosecutor of the RSFSR (1929-1931) and the people's Commissar of justice of the USSR (1936-1938). In his youth he was fond of painting and dancing; formal artistic education is not received.

After the October revolution served as Secretary of a diplomat М. М. Литвинова (from 1921 — Deputy people's Commissar of foreign Affairs). In 1922, working at the International conference in Genoa, he met the American writer max Eastman — a Trotskyist and editor of the leftist publications of the "Masses" ("The Masses") and "the Liberator" ("The Libertator"), later —-known critic of communism and the author of books on the political history of the USSR. traveled extensively in America and Europe. He painted landscapes, portraits, still lifes, Nudes. Worked mainly in gouache on tinted paper. His personal exhibitions were held in galleries "Bonestell" in new-Йорке (1942, 1944, 1946), "Doll & Richards" in Boston (1948).
