In 1845-1850 he studied at MUZHVZ in the architectural class at AT Durnova. In 1850, for the painting "Praying Capuchin" received from the IAH title neklassnogo (free), painter of historical paintings and portraits. In 1858 over represented in the Council IAH two portraits was awarded the title of Academician.

lived in Moscow. Many engaged in teaching activities conducted drawing in junior high school architectural Palace (until 1865), the Imperial Technical School (1865-1900), men's college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saints Peter and Paul, as well as in private pensions, including the high school A . I. Polivanova.
