the Great Princess, Grand Princess, Swedish Princess, Duchess Sodermanlands. The daughter of Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovich (younger son of Alexander II) and Grand Duchess Alexandra Georgievna, nee Princess of Greek. After the death of his mother was reared in a home of Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich, was under the guardianship of Nicholas II.
In 1908-1914 — in marriage with crown Prince Wilhelm Swedish, Duke Sodermanlands. Lived in Stockholm. He studied at the Academy of applied arts in Stockholm, the School of painting in Paris.
Marriage with William Buffet was unsuccessful. In 1913 he fled from Stockholm and settled in St. Petersburg. During the First world war worked as a nurse in a field hospital. Member of the Supreme Council for the care of maimed soldiers and their families.
In 1917 she married Prince Sergei Mikhailovich Putyatin. In 1918 together with him fled Russia, first to Romania, then to England. In 1920 the couple moved to France in 1923 — dispersed.
In Paris graduated from the courses of motoristic-вышивальщиц at pumping plant. Founder and artistic Director of House of embroidery "Kitmir" (1921-1928), which initially worked exclusively for the fashion House "Chanel", then also for other fashion houses, particularly the House of Jean Patou. Personally created patterns for embroidery, using Russian, Byzantine, Bulgarian, Czech, Polish ornaments, and motifs of traditional Persian ceramics, Coptic fabrics, Chinese porcelain; in the second half of 1920-х executed geometrical drawings on Egyptian themes. In 1925 the House "Kitmir" was awarded a gold medal and an honorary diploma of the participant of the International exhibition art-декоративных arts in Paris. In 1928 "Kitmir" was absorbed by the French firm of cross "Fitel and Ireli". In 1928 he released his own line of spirits "Prince Igor".
actively Involved in social activities. Donated a significant amount on the interior design of the Church of St. Sergius metochion in Paris, honorary Minister. In 1920-30-е patronized various charity concerts and evenings, including in favor of the Union of Russian pilots, Russian patients, a Hostel for Russian boys in Chaville, at the children's colony and so on. The Chairman of the Committee for the care of sisters of mercy of the Main Department of the Russian red cross society.
In 1929 he moved to new-Йорк; worked in the trading house "Bergdorf and Goodman" as a consultant for the procurement of fashion apparel from France. Lectured at universities. Mastered the technique of photography and was directed to a Corporation in Germany as a photojournalist. In 1933, went to Paris; delivered a lecture in favour of the unity of the sisters of mercy ROKK, attended tree National organisation of Russian scouts (NORS).
In 1941 he moved to Argentina and lived in Buenos-Айресе. Studied painting; painted landscapes, still lifes. In 1952 he returned to Europe. Lived in Munich, Paris, Monte-Карло.
