studied at the military school in Moscow. At the same time taking classes in the central Stroganov School of Industrial Art (1910), where he studied under the guidance of VD Falileeva and I. Pavlov. In 1918, exhibited his works at the city exhibition in Kiev.

In 1921 he emigrated, settled in Paris, where he assistant in the studio of sculptor A. Blazisa. In 1922 he completed a cycle woodcuts, which were exhibited at the exhibition, organized by the Association of Painters and Sculptors in the cafe La Parnasse. Since the late 1920's worked as an engraver in a carpentry workshop. In the 1930's turned to painting and decorative and applied arts: writing miniature landscapes, still lifes, creating drawings for fabrics.

member of the Union of Russian Artists in France and groups "A bunch of Montparnasse" (1926), "A friendly group of artists" (1927). Participated in the Salon of the Association of French artists, "Group of Ten" (1931), "Fair hack-work", "Beauty in the open air" (both - 1932), Winter cabin (since 1944).

Pustoshkin works were exhibited as in the Soviet Union, in particular in the exhibitions "The engraving of the USSR for 10 years" (1927), "Color woodcut. Her techniques and possibilities "(1929), the exhibition of prints by Ivan Pavlov and his pupils (1929) in Moscow.
