From an ancient princely family. He studied at the law faculty of the St-Петербургского University (1907-1908), studied diplomacy at the Lyceum. Alexander I (1908-1911). From 1901 attended private art Studio, 1907-1911 — art school М. Д. Бернштейна. In 1912-1914, he lived in Paris, where he studied at the Academy П. Рансона I М. Дени and П. Серюзье. At the beginning of the First world war was called up for military service and returned to Russia.

In 1920 he emigrated to France. In 1922-1923 he studied fresco technique at П. Бодуэна. Together with М. Дени and Ж. Девальером founded in Paris a religious art workshop (Les Ateliers d'art Sacré). Was engaged in painting churches and mansions; executed the frescoes of the side apses on the theme of "Room of St. Joseph" and "the Annunciation" in the Church Sacre-Кер in Saint-Уан (1933).

Designed the performances in the theatres of Paris and Brussels. Wrote still lifes, portraits, landscapes. Illustrated books F. Chasalle "De Clowns en de fantasten" (1924), S. Gantillon "Marines" (1928) and others.

C 1922 exhibited at the Paris salons: Autumn (the section of religious art), Independent of the society of French artists. Participated in exhibitions of Russian art in the galleries "J. Povolotzky" (1921), "d Alignan" (1931) in Paris, the gallery "Whitechapel" in the London (1921). In 1929 held in the gallery "J. Charpentier" solo exhibition.

In 1930-х worked for the theater of Gaston Batey. He designed the musical "puss in boots" Ш. Перро in favor of the children's aid Committee of the Russian branch of the red cross. Developed a design project of Russian charity fair in favor of the Holy-Троицкой of the Church in Clichy (1936).

In 1936, settled in new-Йорке. Painted the walls of private and public buildings (post office building Eaton Rapid, Michigan, 1938). Worked as a set designer. In 1943 he performed sketches of costumes for the ballet company Б. Романова in 1953 he created a set of interchangeable decorations for the American Youth Ballet theatre, based in Louisiana, his niece — ballerina Tatiana Semenova.

Died in a car accident on the way from Los-Анджелеса in new-Йорк.
