he Studied at the Odessa art school (1900-1903), the Higher art school of painting, sculpture and architecture under the Imperial Academy of arts (1904-1907). Participated in the revolutionary movement; in 1907 he was arrested after liberation — emigrated to Berlin. From 1908 he lived permanently in Paris.

he Painted portraits, landscapes, scenes of Parisian life, Nudes. Have been influenced by creativity А. Дерена and П. Сезанна; passed through passion cubism, Fauvism. Was engaged in easel, book and magazine graphic art. In 1920-30-х woodcuts published in the leftist French publications and Klarte Mond. He completed the illustrations for the book "Ballads" Ж. Дюамеля (1925).

Sympathized with Soviet Russia and did not break up with her relations. From 1920 he was Secretary of the Union of Russian artists in Paris. Together with М. Ф. Ларионовым participated in the preparation of the exhibition of modern French art in Moscow (1928). In 1933 he joined the Association of revolutionary writers and artists, headed Р. Ролланом and Vian-Кутюрье. Was familiar with И. Г. Эренбургом. In 1935-1937 жил in Moscow; received a Soviet passport.

In the period of Nazi occupation of Paris was arrested as a Russian immigrant and sent to a concentration camp Front Stalag in compiègne. In 1944 освобожден.

In 1912-1940 ежегодно has exhibited his works at the salon des indépendants, with 1920 — in the salon d'automne, the exhibition of Russian artists in the café La Rotondе (1925) and the gallery ZAK (1930). Participated in 1-й Russian exhibition of crafts and art in London (1921), exhibitions of Russian painters and sculptors in new-Йорке, modern Russian painters in Chicago (both — 1923), International exhibition art-декоративных arts in Paris (1925, Soviet Department; silver medal), contemporary French art in Moscow (1928; Russian Department). His personal exhibitions were held in Paris galleries Billet — Vorms (1926, 1927, 1928), Paradise (1946).

After the death of his widow FOMINSKOGO unsuccessfully negotiated the sale of works of Soviet museums, so in the collections of Russian museums, his work is almost not represented.
