Exhibition of works of German photographer Mona Brad opens today at the Gallery «Zurab»

Today, at 18:00 at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Tverskoy Boulevard, 9, Gallery «Zurab») opens exhibition of works by German photographer Brad Mona (Mona Breede).

For their early works Mona Brad often chose public places that are themselves works of art. She watched the way in which human beings are moved, how to react to each other and the space that surrounds them. Today it is most interested in exactly the place and people. As a photographer Mona Brad has receptive and sensitive eye. Her interpretation of the reality, placing his stamp on it and have great expressive power.

Mona herself Brad said: «I want my photos touching those who are watching. To the viewer incessantly returned to him, feeling every time something new, discovering the unknown. It is this goal determines the process of creating photographs. Therefore, in my opinion, no matter how and at what point I am involved with the creation of their photographs.

In addition to the background, is very important for me to light. I have always been interested in extreme conditions in which the light makes its own rules, a powerful light on the changing characteristics of his contrasts. The time that I want to show the photos - not the winter with its heavy air and bright sun, the dawn hours of light and shadow ».

Mona Brad was born in Kiel (Germany) in 1968. In 1988-1989, it was the practice in the department of photographs of the Hamburg Museum (Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe). Then studied photography at the Bavarian school photos (Bayeriche Staatslehranstalt für Photographie) in Munich and the Higher School of Art in Karlsruhe (Staatlichen Hochschule für Gestaltung de Karlsruhe) at Zahse Rolf (Rolf Sachsse) and Thomas Shtruta (Thomas Struth). In 2001-2002, Mona Brad went to Merkurakademie in Karlsruhe.

gain some time in Chicago, in 2007, Mona Brad traveled to Asia and Russia and returned with the new amazing series of photos: Shanghai, Moscow and St. Petersburg. The work of recent years will be presented for the first time in Russia - at the exhibition at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Tverskoy Boulevard, 9, Gallery «Zurab»), which will last until 15 February and then to the State Photo Center in St. Petersburg (from 3 April to May 31, 2009).
