«From Raphael to Renoir: Drawings from the Collection of Jean Bonn» at the Metropolitan Museum
In New York's Metropolitan Museum of an exhibition covering 500 years of history of art in paintings by old masters and artists of the XIX century
The exhibition, entitled «From Raphael to Renoir: Drawings from the Collection of Jean Bonn» recently opened in New York's Metropolitan Museum. This is the first such extensive exhibition devoted to drawings by old masters and artists of the XIX century, this famous Swiss collection. It brings together 120 works and covers pyatisotletny period in the history of art - from the Renaissance to the early XX century. Visitors can see works from various art schools, including such famous masters as Carpaccio, Raphael, Andrea del Sarto, Parmigianino, Canaletto, Rembrandt, Claude Lorrain, Watteau, Chardin, Fragonard, Goya, Ingres, Zheriko, Delacroix, Manet, Degas , Cezanne, Redon, Renoir, Gauguin, Van Gogh and Sera, as well as interesting to see the work of lesser-known authors.
«Jean Bonn - one of the best collectors of our time gathering pictures. He has excellent taste and a very wide range of interests », - said George R. Goldner (George R. Goldner), head of the department of drawings and prints the Metropolitan Museum. Among the most interesting works presented in the exhibit - sketches depicting soldiers set up for Rafael pictures «Saul Treatment», «The Holy Family with shepherds, surrounded by angels» work Parmigianino, as well as the three thumbnail female heads of Jean-Antoine Watteau.
The exhibition will remain at the Metropolitan until 26 April and then moved to the National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh, where it can be visited from June 5 until September 6, 2009.
