The exhibition presents over 40 paintings and 100 drawings by Alexei Kravchenko from private collections. The exhibition is devoted to only one side of the artist - indeed, very bright and typical for him - romantic.

The last personal exhibition of Alexey Kravchenko took almost 20 years ago in the Tretyakov Gallery. Despite the fact that the artist's works are included in the collections of major museums in the country, his name is well known, only professionals and art lovers, and from the attention of the audience it was a slip in time.

His biography of the rich and full of interesting twists of fate. Among his mentors were initially KA Korovin and Valentin Serov. Then, in the famous Munich Holloshi school and during a trip to Italy and France, he met with the new European artistic currents, from folding while in Europe modernism. In his work a lot of oriental motifs - reflections travel to India and Ceylon.

in Soviet art history, it was assumed that AI Kravchenko - this is primarily an engraver and book illustrator. Exhibition Gallery «Our artists» wizard presents primarily as a great painter, and shows that the inherent romanticism it emerged and developed in painting. Picturesque talent artist highly valued by collectors in 1910, were among his admirers and members of the imperial family.

In 1920, 30 artist's preference for the book illustrations, in an effort to preserve his artistic style in an era of political order in the art. Masterly skill of engravings, etchings and drawings of A. Kravchenko, on which so much writing, and visitors will appreciate the exhibition.

Alexei Kravchenko was a very harmonious artist - may be due to the fact that care in a separate world, distinguishing from reality - the holiday (oriental motifs, pastorals, and Venetian feasts) or fantasy (illustrations «Viyu» and « peak lady »).
