The exhibition at the Luxembourg Museum presents works by Maurice de Vlaminka (1876-1958), executed in 1900-1915 years, that is the earliest known works by the artist. He began to paint in 17 years, but early paintings have not survived. In the first decade of the pre-twentieth century, as shown in the exhibition has been already revealed to the artist's characteristic strength and expression, as well as search techniques for the transmission of three-dimensional space.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to look afresh at Vlaminka creativity and its role in the process of updating the arts that occurred in the early twentieth century. Portfolio Vlaminka created during major aesthetic changes that should be considered in the context of his relations with his predecessors, the post-impressionist (Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cezanne, etc.). The great courage of the artist pushed him into numerous experiments with the expressiveness of a gesture, a paroxysm of color and deformation of individual items.

In the Museum of Luxembourg, near Luxembourg Palace, formerly housed a collection of paintings and sculptures of the XIX century, but now there are temporary exhibitions.

The exhibition will run until July 20, 2008.
