Brother of the artist Н. К. Жаба. He studied at the Higher art school of painting, sculpture and architecture under the Imperial Academy of arts (1899-1907) П. О. Ковалевского, Ф. А. Рубо. In 1907 за picture "On fire" received the title of artist.

In 1909 участвовал in a hydrographic expedition on the Kola Peninsula and Kolguev island, where he served as artistic series "the far North" (1909).
