9 октября 1933 was arrested on charges of espionage; 2 апреля 1934 along with a group of senior employees of the Russian Museum convicted under articles 58.10, 58.11 (espionage, action against the working class, shown at the Royal order) for 3 годам correctional-трудовых camps; on parole.

In 1935-1938 lived in Tarusa near Moscow. In 1938 was arrested again and sentenced under article 58.10 8 годам correctional-трудовых camps. 15 июня 1943 released early (in 1956 — rehabilitated).

Lived in Zagorsk (1943-1958). From 1943 directed the work of the Zagorsk branch of the Central state restoration workshops. Worked in the picture Zagorsk Museum-заповеднике. In 1958 he settled in Moscow.

The Exhibitor of several foreign exhibitions: world in Rome (1911), exhibitions of Russian art in the USA (1924-1925, mobile). Held a personal exhibition in Moscow (1955).
