Biography
KOLCHIN, Peter
Painter, draftsman, photographer
he Studied at the Moscow school of painting (1855). In 1864 the sketch "the Man in the fur coat" (1863) received from the Academy the title of class artist of portraiture.
he Lived in Ljubljana since the mid 1860-х — in Tiflis. Painted genre paintings, portraits, landscapes. Exhibited at the exhibitions of the Imperial Caucasian society for encouragement of fine arts (1888) and others. In 1860-х founded together with Д. И. Ермаковым photographic workshop ("Photography of artist Kolchin and Yermakov"), which functioned in the 1870-х.
Completed the painting of the Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky in Tbilisi (together with Л. К. Лонго; mid 1890-х).
he Taught at the Realschule in Tiflis (1882-1894), and organized them in art classes (1889-1894).
Work is represented in several Museum collections, including the State art Museum of Georgia in Tbilisi.
