born in the family photographer. In late 1870 - early 1880 took private lessons from artist EE Schrader in Kharkov. In 1880 moved to Moscow, he studied at the workshop AA Kiselev. In 1886 traveled to Turkey, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Holland, England. Since 1888 regularly exhibited his works at exhibitions TPHV from 1899 - member of the Association, participated in exhibitions of the Moscow Society of Art Lovers (from 1889) and the Moscow Association of Artists (from 1895). In 1894, he attended the First Congress of Russian artists, for which prepared a report on measures to develop a sense of color ».

In mid-1890's, visited the Far North. In 1896 Dosekin works were exhibited at the All-Russia industrial and agricultural exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod and the Society of Russian exhibition watercolors. From 1896 to 1914 intermittently lived and worked in Paris, where he honed his skills in private academies and workshop ES Kruglikova. In 1900-1901 and 1903 participated in the exhibitions "World of Art". In 1903 became a founding member and regular exhibitor of the Union of Russian Artists. In 1906 exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1908 - on the first collective exhibition of paintings by Russian artists, organized by AI Filippov in Vienna in 1911 - at the World Exhibition in Rome.

In 1914 he finally settled in Moscow. After the October Revolution of 1917 has continued to engage in creative activities and exhibition, in 1926 exhibited his works at exhibitions of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (AHRR), in 1928 - at the exhibition of the Society of Artists of the revolution. Posted by a series of articles about art: "On the story in the painting" (1894, "Artist", Vol. 4), "Exhibition of Moscow Artists" (1894, "Artist", Vol. 5) and others.

Dosekin worked primarily as a landscape painter, following in their work realistic tradition, near the Wanderers. During his stay in France was influenced by impressionism. For his works of 1900's - 1910-x is characterized by a thin channel light-air, lighting effects, state of nature, more lively and direct comparison with earlier pictures of brushwork. Works of this period of greatest collector interest.
