born in the family of the county surveyor. The first artistic skills from my father, then studied at the DI Bezperchego in the 2 nd Kharkov Gymnasium and Secondary School. After graduating from the college worked as an assistant surveyor in the lithographic workshops, retoucher at a photo studio, decorated amateur theatricals. In the early 1880's drawing school visited the Kharkov MD Raevskaya-Ivanova.

In 1885 he moved to St. Petersburg, made friends with many artists, in particular with N. Dubovsky, P. Levchenko, K. Kostandi, VM Vasnetsov. Self-involved figure. From 1902 he lived in Moscow. In 1903 became a founding member and regular exhibitor of the Union of Russian artists, from 1906 a member of the Committee of association. Participated in the activities of the Moscow literary and artistic circles, attended the Art Circle "Environment" (from 1904), a literary circle "Zori" (1906-1907). He was engaged in photography, was a Russian Photographic Society. In 1902-1912 he taught at the Stroganov School of Industrial Art.

Pervukhin - one of the major Russian artists of the XIX - XX centuries, the tradition of Russian landscape school. In his work reflected many of the art of this time trend. In the early period was close TPHV, was under the influence Dubovsky. Since mid-1890's, used in many Impressionist painting techniques: he wrote in a free manner, focusing especially on the transfer of light-air environment and changing states of nature.
