GOLOSOV Sergey (nickname — Sergei Glagol)

Art and theater critic, painter, graphic artist

From a noble family, the son of the chief of gendarmerie of the Orenburg administration. He studied at the Stavropol and Orenburg high schools. In 1870 — early 1880-х he was a circle of revolutionaries-народников, organized his own populist circle ("golosessi"). Was repeatedly arrested, (1874, 1877, 1878); in 1878 sentenced to expulsion in the government of Archangel.

he Lived in Moscow. Studied at Medical-хирургической Academy in St. Petersburg (1873-1874, did not graduate), at the medical faculty of Moscow University (graduated in 1884). Until the early 1900s-х served as a district doctor in Moscow; in 1905 he retired.

Attended classes at the Moscow school of painting (1880-е). Worked primarily as a landscape painter, studied lithography. The author works: "suburb", "Area of Moscow", "Baku", "the Ruins of the mosque Bibi-Ханым", "Istra River", "Persian cemetery" (all — 1890-е). He drew a series of travel sketches of Italy and Greece.

From 1891 — participated in exhibitions. Exhibited: Moscow society of art lovers (1894-1898), the Association of traveling art exhibitions (1891); 4-й exhibition of watercolors, pastels and drawings in Moscow (1898), 4-й exhibition of paintings of foreign and local artists in Saratov (1898). Participant of all-Russian Congress of artists (1911 St-Петербург).

he Taught at the Central Stroganov school of technical drawing (1902-1918); taught a course in surface anatomy; founded at the College of graphic arts workshop, where he worked as А. М. Васнецов, В. В. Владимиров, Л. О. Пастернак, И. Н. Павлов, В. В. Переплетчиков, В. А. Серов. Member of the Society for the teaching of graphic arts (1910), the creative circle "Environment" (1886).
