was the sixth son of a major Moscow banker and businessman Pavel Mikhailovich Ryabushinsky. Entrepreneurial activity was not interested. After the death of his father was released from the Association of Manufactures P. Ryabushinsky ", receiving its share of the ancestral capital.

Passionately fond of art, collecting works of old masters and contemporary artists, organized and financed the exhibition of modern art. Independently studied painting and graphics, although vocational education was not.

In 1906-1909 he published and edited a literary and art magazine "Golden Fleece". Sam participated in the design of the magazine, published in it poems under the pseudonym AN Shinsky. In 1908-1910 founded and contain self-titled exhibition salon. In 1907, exhibited his works at the exhibition "Blue Rose", which was held at his financial support. He painted portraits, landscapes, still lifes and decorative panels of allegorical content ( "Vulcan", "No", "Autumn"). Also participated in the exhibitions "Golden Fleece", the Moscow Association of Artists (1911), the Moscow Salon (1911-1913), "The world of art» (1912-1913).

artistic ideals Ryabushinsky were linked to the symbolism and art nouveau. They were embodied in his Moscow mansion "Black Swan", designed by VD Adamovich and decorated PV Kuznetsov and AF Matveev (burned in 1914 along with is in it part of the collection).

From 1914 he lived mainly in Paris, where he had an antique shop on the Champs Elysees. After the October Revolution a few years was associated with a Soviet commission trade, worked as a consultant and appraiser works of art. His work has regularly appeared in exhibitions in Soviet Russia, in particular at the First National Exhibition of Works of Art in Petrograd and the Eighth National Exhibition in Moscow.
