BOBROV Aleksei Alekseevich

Painter, printmaker

From a merchant family; younger brother of the famous engraver Viktor Alekseevich Bobrov. In 1865 he began to study drawing under the guidance of his brother. He studied at the Imperial Academy of arts as a noncredit student (1866-1871). In 1871, for the drawings from nature and etude "Room perspective" received a diploma for a teacher in the lower schools. In 1874, for the painting "Family scene", "Smoker", "the artist's Struggle with the flies" received a small silver medal.

Lived in St. Petersburg. Painted genre paintings, interiors, portraits. Author of painting works: "the Leprosy of cats" (1867), "In the rooms" (1869), "Report" (1870), "Interior of room" (1873), "cooking lessons" (1874), "Repeat lesson". In there from 1875 to 1881 served as a freelance artist in the Museum of the Chief quartermaster of the Department.

From 1883, using the advice brother В. А. Боброва was engaged in etching. Worked in the field of engravings, etchings performed on the originals Ф.-Л. Ланфана de Mets, Ф. А. Бруни. The author of 15 гравюр, among them — portraits И. А. Крылова, И. Ф. Горбунова, Д. М. Леоновой, М. Г. Савиной, А. В. Горчакова; genre scenes: "Meeting a boy with a dog", "Grandpa with daughter and grandson", "beer", "hide and seek" (all — 1880-е) and others.

From 1867 participant of exhibitions. Exhibited in the halls of the Imperial Academy of arts (1867-1890, with breaks).

Work is represented in many Museum collections, among them — of the State Tretyakov gallery, State Russian Museum, the Pushkin Museum im. А. С. Пушкина Irkutsk regional art Museum im. В. П. Сукачева and others.
