the Younger brother of the scientist-зоолога Viktor Averin. He studied at the Kharkov art school (graduated in 1914) А. М. Любимова, М. Р. Пестрикова, М. С. Федорова; worked in the studios of Э. А. Штейнберга and К. Киша in Kharkiv.

he Lived in Kharkov. He worked in easel, book illustration, bookplates, posters; was engaged in lithography, etching. Animal painter, landscape painter, portraitist. Illustrated books on science and medicine: "human anatomy Atlas" В. П. Воробьева (М.-Л., 1938-1942, 1-5). Designed books for publishing houses "art", "Litvinov", "Proletarian" and other: "a Connecticut Yankee in king Arthur's court" М. Твена (1923), "93-й year" В. Гюго (1926); tales for children "Gingerbread man", "the Turnip".

made a drawing of a publishing brand for the Kharkov publishing house "Our thought". The author of portraits of writers Н. Г. Чернышевского, Н. А. Добролюбова, Н. А. Некрасова, В. С. Курочкина (all — 1929), А. С. Пушкина (1937), Т. Г. Шевченко (1939). Created an album of autolithographs "Animals of the zoo" (1920), "Martens", "Calves", "Mother", "Bug"; series of landscapes "Ossetia" (1931, not survived), "Crimea" (1933). During the great Patriotic war he was evacuated to Alma-Ате.

From 1927 — participant of exhibitions ("Artist of today" in Kharkov). Member of the Association of artists of Ukraine Chervonnaya (1925-1927 (?)), Of the Union of artists of the USSR. Exhibited: Ukrainian book graphic art (1929), the Jubilee exhibition artists of the USSR (1938), "Old and new Kharkiv" (1938), Spring exhibition of works by artists of Kharkov (1939), "Т. Г. Шевченко in the graphic art of artists of Kharkiv" (1939), "the Heroic past of the peoples of the USSR" (1941), "Artists of Ukraine — native Kharkiv" (1944) in Kharkov; traveling exhibition on the farms of Kharkiv (1936); "Artists-графики Kharkov" (1938), the exhibition of the best works of Soviet artists (1941) in Moscow; Ukrainian anniversary exhibition of Pushkin (1937), the Republican Shevchenko jubilee exhibition (1939), 8-й Ukrainian art exhibition (1945) in Kiev; "Engraving and lithography Soviet Ukraine" in Yerevan (1939); 2-й the Republican exhibition "the Great Patriotic war" in Alma-Ате (1943) and others. Participant of several exhibitions of Soviet art abroad: in London (1938), San-Франциско (1939). His personal exhibitions were held in Kharkiv (1936, 1937).

Posthumous exhibition of works took place in Kharkov (1950), Lugansk (2009).
