In St-Петербурге in the fabergé Museum 3 February 2016 will open Russia's first large-scale retrospective of the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Within the extensive exhibition will feature 34 works of Frida — paintings, drawings, lithography, among them early works and the later works of the period, which will allow to trace the stylistic evolution of the master. Will complete the event more than one hundred photographs covering different periods of the life of Frida Kahlo, Mexican folk costumes, such as those that loved to wear the artist herself.

The Exhibition "Frida Kahlo. Paintings and drawings from the collections of Mexico" — event of international significance. In the Faberge Museum will be represented in almost all the works of the artist available today for exhibiting outside her native country. Among them — famous paintings, without which it is impossible to imagine the history of twentieth-century art: "the Broken column" — most famous painting of Frida Kahlo, a composite physical and mental suffering, the work that crystallized her unique style; "Portrait of Dona Rosita Morillo", which the artist considered one of his best works; "Hospital Henry Ford" — candid huge picture of their own tragedy, revolutionary for Catholic Patriarchal country and for art until 1970-х.

Hard to believe that Frida Kahlo, whose name is forever inscribed in the history of art, has not received systematic art education, and its first appeal to the creativity of an accidental nature. For a long time after a severe accident (1925) she was bedridden, and to entertain and support the daughter, the father has built for her a frame for the drawing and fastened to the bed a mirror. The first work of Frida was self-portrait. In future, this genre became the principal in her work. Frida Kahlo was closely associated with cultural and political processes of Mexico, however, neither broad-minded nor knowledge about the art of other eras, nor involvement in political life of the country practically did not affect the subjects of her works: the main characters from picture to picture was Frida herself, her family and friends.
