Today, the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center presents " Atelier » Nappelbaum Moses .

The exhibition will feature more than 100 portraits created by Moses Nappelbaum in different years. The show does not just reveal the evolution of creativity outstanding photographer , but is a whole encyclopedia in those pre-revolutionary Russia and the Soviet Union, the first half of the twentieth century. Nappelbaum imprinted on photographic portraits known of the cultural elite of the twentieth century - scientists, writers , poets, composers and musicians, theater and cinema : Anna Akhmatova , Alexander Blok , Alexander Vishnevsky , Sergei Yesenin , Pyotr Kapitsa , Vladimir Lenin , Vsevolod Meyerhold , Boris Pasternak , Sergei Prokofiev , and many others .

Creativity Nappelbaum Moses ( 1869-1958 ) can not enter into any of the artistic tendencies or trends early and mid- twentieth century. Nappelbaum managed to develop his own artistic style and create an unmistakable style . His approach to photography combines traditional unprecedented and bold composition techniques for creating images that are typical of the avant-garde .

Mostly contrast , diagonal accent lighting deprived static portraits , endows the composition rhythm and created a bright, full of dramatic images . As a true artist Nappelbaum always sought to capture not just the appearance of man , but to convey his inner beauty and personality. Pose, angle , light, focus on hands and portrayed almost complete abandonment of accessories - all worked to establish solid and expressive image . Curator - Maria Nasimova .
